Our Why
As a fellow teacher who’s lived the chaos, I know exactly how those frantic end-of-day device transitions can steal the joy from your classroom and your sanity.
Hi, I’m Mary, the educator and mom who founded Teacher Tech Tags right here in Houston, Texas. Like so many of you, I poured my heart into teaching while watching 10 maddening minutes of every afternoon disappear into tangled cords, mismatched chargers, and student arguments around the tech cart.
Let me paint the picture, because if you’re an overwhelmed elementary teacher like me, passionate about your kids but completely drained by the constant device drama, you already know this scene by heart. The bell rings. Your students are excited to head home or to specials, but instead they pile up around the cart like it’s a Black Friday sale. Twenty-two Chromebooks (or laptops, iPads, whatever your setup looks like) need to find their “homes.” Cords tangle. Ports get blocked. Kids argue: “This isn’t mine!” “Where’s the charger?” “My charger doesn’t reach!”. One thoughtful student tries to help but ends up slowing everyone down even more. You’re standing there redirecting traffic, untangling cables, and playing referee while your planning period evaporates. Ten minutes. Fifteen. Sometimes twenty. Every. Single. Day.
And it wasn’t just the time. It was the mood shift. Students felt disorganized. You felt like a referee instead of a teacher. The classroom lost that peaceful, ready-to-learn vibe you work so hard to create.
That was the chaos I refused to accept.
My turning point came on one exhausting Friday. After yet another chaotic dismissal, I sat at my kitchen counter and designed the very first set of color-coded removable vinyl labels. Thick, durable vinyl that sticks through daily use, wipes clean with disinfectant, and removes cleanly with no damage to district devices.
One color per student. A label on the device, a matching label on their exact charging port, and a coordinating tag on the cord. No guessing. No mix-ups. No teacher intervention needed.
The very next Monday I tested them in my own room. The transformation was immediate. What used to take 15–20 minutes now wrapped up in under three. Students walked straight to their color, snapped everything in place, and moved on smiling. Dismissal became smooth and joyful again. My kids actually took pride in keeping their devices organized, and I finally had those precious minutes back to connect with them instead of directing traffic.
The labels last two, even three+ years—exactly the durability real classrooms demand. I’ve been using this exact product in my classroom since 2022!
These color-coded removable vinyl labels turn daily device chaos into calm, consistent order. They save time, reduce stress, protect expensive devices, and give every teacher back the peaceful classroom they deserve.
I know firsthand how much a simple free tool can mean to a busy educator. That’s why every visitor gets instant access to our free Classroom Device Roster Template and Organization Tip Sheet—the exact system I still use to make labeling day effortless.
Thank you for letting me share my story. If you’re ready to trade device drama for calm, efficient transitions, you’re in the right place.
Welcome to the Teacher Tech Tags family. We’re in this together.
